UNIVASA Unveils Partnership with Lagos State Taxi Drivers & Cab Operators Association (LSTDCOA)

“Innovation has changed the way things are done and impacted our way of life positively”, therefore it is only normal for everything to change as well, knowing that “the only constant thing in life is change”, Dr. Ben Adeniyi, MD Univasa Nigeria Limited. He made these statements during his opening speech at the partnership launch of the #BabaDeyOnline Campaign on the 7th of December,2020 at the LSTDCOA Headquarters, Oshodi, Lagos State.

The partnership entails the onboarding of all registered Lagos Yellow Taxi drivers to the Univasa Provider App; thus, the drivers can receive ride requests from registered users of Univasa. The partnership aims to bridge the gap created by other tech ride-hailing firms, the neglect of the association, and create more opportunities for the Cab drivers.

So far, we have over 400 Yellow Taxi Drivers registered on the UNIVASA platform and hope to get all the cab drivers onboard before the second quarter of 2021. The harsh reality is that there are so many unlocked opportunities for this association, considering that there are some locations within the state where they are not allowed to carry out their operations. The partnership with Univasa promises to expand the operations of the LSTDCOA, increase business transactions for the drivers and monetary value with our 90% payout system.

The initiative was well received by the association members, they pledged 100% cooperation to the onboarding process stating their high beliefs and expectations in the partnership and UNIVASA as a brand. Hon. Sunkanmi Gbolagade, Secretary Ikeja branch had this to say “taxi drivers have been pushed aside by the likes of Uber and Bolt for so long, but Univasa has stepped up by creating an all-inclusive platform and we are glad about the partnership”. Also, the Chairman, Ikeja branch, Mr. Rauf Adelowo said that “it is a lucrative partnership and we look forward to monumental progress for the association”.

All in all, the UNIVASA partnership with the LSTDCOA proves to be a sustainable one, with the utmost cooperation from the association drivers alongside brimming innovations and technology from Univasa. It is a good start to redefining Taxi-hailing in Lagos State and Nigeria at large.
